I go by Michael, but you can call me Mike. My professional journey has been rooted in the dynamic field of IT, where I've worn various hats over the years:

• Project Manager and Product Manager

• Line Manager, Business Manager, General Manager, and Financial Planner

• Consultant, Business Coach, and Auditor for companies of all sizes

This diverse experience has not only broadened my skill set but has also given me a unique perspective on the intricacies of different roles within many industries.

 

I'm a child of the 70s - the area of the family businesses, and my upbringing was filled with exposure to various trades. My father ran a medium-sized construction company in Germany, and I happily spent my youth lending a hand wherever needed.

My passion for business and economics blossomed early, leading me through several business schools. Eventually, I delved into a master's program in maths and computer science, with a minor in accounting. In my twenties, I founded several startups from scratch, finding success with a handful of them.

​

In 2005, my wife and I made the exciting decision to embark on a new adventure in New Zealand, marking the beginning of a new chapter in my life. While still maintaining connections with European clients, I built a fresh clientele base in New Zealand and Australia. I served as a business coach for BNMZ in Nelson, gradually transitioning into consulting, project management, and leadership roles. This journey led me to BGC and later VGW in Australia, where I proudly became a part of the overall leadership team, witnessing our startup grow to a net worth exceeding AUD 1 billion.

In subsequent years, I blended my software development skills with my accounting know-how, creating various accounting software packages. My focus shifted towards consulting for large businesses, primarily in Europe. During this period, my family and I spent valuable time in Europe, allowing our New Zealand-born children to connect with their grandparents.

​

Now back in Nelson, I've decided to make a shift from the IT industry towards accounting and consulting. I believe there's a significant demand for accounting services that go beyond being just a cost center, adding real value to businesses.
